MRO Blockchain Alliance

MRO Links Snapshot:

SITA and other organizations across the maintenance, repair and overhaul spectrum — Bolloré Logistics, Cathay Pacific, FLYdocs, HAECO Group, Ramco Systems, and Willis Lease Finance Corp., supported by Clyde & Co. — have formed the MRO Blockchain Alliance to study the use of blockchain to track, trace and record aircraft parts.

Later in 2020, the alliance expects to release a proof of concept for using blockchain to document and track part movement and maintenance history digitally among airlines, lessors, OEMs, logistics companies and maintenance shops.

Ed. note—To recognize the 25th anniversary of MRO Americas, Inside MRO’s Lindsay Bjerregaard looks back at the development of blockchain and other top technologies for MRO over the last 25 years.
