New Maintenance Hangar Doubles Capacity at KPNS
A new aircraft maintenance hangar at the Pensacola International Airport in Pensacola, Florida will be formally unveiled on February 27, 2023 by ST Engineering. The second of four hangars for the almost 700,000 sq ft airframe Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) complex being built by ST Engineering, the new facility opens a promising new chapter in ST Engineering's ongoing expansion in Pensacola. The new facility, which is 177,000 square feet in size, can accommodate two widebody or up to six narrowbody aircraft. In full operation since January 2023, the new hangar has doubled ST Engineering's current capacity in Pensacola and creates new employment opportunities for the city.
The airframe MRO complex, which is jointly funded by ST Engineering, Triumph Gulf Coast, Inc., the City of Pensacola, Escambia County, the State of Florida, and other state and federal organizations, will have a 2 million manhour capacity when completed and is anticipated to generate over 1,700 jobs overall, including skilled positions for individuals such as aircraft inspectors, master structures technicians, and avionics technicians. With strong backing from the State of Florida and local governments, ST Engineering is collaborating with regional economic development organizations and educational institutions to provide authorized training programs to meet the high demand for aircraft mechanical talent.
