Aviation Clean Air, LLC (ACA) was formed in May 2012 when Global Plasma Solutions, the manufacturer of an air and surface purification system for residential and commercial use, granted ACA the global licenses for modifying, marketing and distributing the system for the aviation industry. ACA is a partnership between Southern Aviation Parts & Services, TRIAX Partners and American Ion, Inc.

After the company was formed, ACA began working on the design changes necessary for aviation use and undertook testing of the system to ensure it met DO-160 standards. The DO-160 for Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment set by the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) is considered the standard for environmental testing of avionics hardware. The ACA Component has been extensively tested in the field and today meets and/or exceeds the requirements of the RCTA DO-160.

The ACA product is the only proactive system that will immediately improve interior air quality and kill pathogens where they live throughout all of the air-conditioned spaces within the aircraft. The ACA system is a proactive, natural purification process that produces no harmful ozone or chemicals and requires no maintenance with filters to be changed or charged plates to clean.
