Swissmem is the leading association for SMEs and large companies in the Swiss machine, electrical and metal industry (MEM industry) and related technology-oriented industries.

Swissmem promotes the national and international competitiveness of its around 1,100 member companies with needs-based services. They include professional advice in the areas of labor law, commercial and contract law, environmental law, energy efficiency and knowledge and technology transfer. In addition, Swissmem offers training and further education offers for employees in the industry that are suitable for the labor market. Swissmem operates strong networks. In 27 specialist groups, various experience exchange groups and specialist commissions, the member companies exchange technical questions or work on joint projects. The inexpensive compensation fund rounds off the broad Swissmem range.

Swissmem is committed to competition and corporate freedom in social responsibility. Supported by broad industry know-how, Swissmem is committed to politicians, administrators and the public for the best possible economic policy framework and a liberal labor market. Swissmem is also committed to a constructive social partnership. As the employer representative, the association negotiates the collective employment contract (GAV) for the MEM branch with the social partners. Swissmem emerged from the associations ASM (Employers' Association of the Swiss Machine Industry) and VSM (Association of Swiss Machine Manufacturers) and can look back on more than 130 years of history.
