Blisks, or blade integrated disks, eliminate the need for blade roots and disk slots by integrating them during manufacturing. The term blisk mashes together the words blade and disk.
Blisks are appropriate for components bearing smaller loads and, specifically, high-pressure compressors and low-pressure compressors.
Benefits of blisks include weight reduction, resilience and less maintenance.
