Cargo Solutions for EMB120, ERJ145 and E-Jet Cabins

MRO Links Snapshot:

Embraer engineers have developed on-seat loading and floor loading configurations that allow operators to transport cargo in passenger cabins.

In the on-seat loading configuration, small packages may fill overhead bins and stowage compartments. With certain restrictions, cargo may be placed on each seat as well. The OEM says a 96-seat E190 can carry 6720 lbs. of cabin freight — in addition to underfloor cargo. The passenger cabin of an E195 with 118 seats accommodates 8260 lbs.

Operators may also load cargo directly on the cabin floor. With the floor-mounted configuration, up to 70 percent of the passenger seats are removed to accommodate items that do not fit on seats. Approved netting secures the cargo and fastens to the seat tracks. In the floor loading configuration, ERJ145 cabins can hold up to 1750 lbs. E190-E2 cabins can carry up to 5194 lbs. of floor-mounted cargo, Embraer says.

Embraer engineers have published Technical Dispositions about carrying freight in the cabins of ERJ145 and E-Jets, including E2s.

A Service Bulletin covers full cargo configurations. The Service Bulletin applies to EMB120 aircraft.
