3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Epoxy Adhesive EC-2216 B/A is a flexible, two-part epoxy paste adhesive with a long legacy in aerospace and space-related applications. First qualified for aerospace use in 1963, this high-performance 3M adhesive has become a widely trusted solution across the industry and is now qualified on more than 100 aerospace specifications.

For space applications, EC-2216 B/A offers documented vacuum-outgassing and cryogenic performance. The adhesive bonds many metals, plastics and elastomers and is commonly considered where flexibility, dissimilar-material bonding or composite laminate edge sealing is required.

Designed for flexible structural bonding, EC-2216 B/A resists extreme shock, vibration and flexing, making it well suited for assemblies exposed to demanding launch, flight and operating conditions. EC-2216 B/A Gray meets commonly used space outgassing screening criteria when tested in accordance with ASTM E595. The adhesive is also suitable for cryogenic and low-temperature environments, delivering 17 MPa / 2440 psi overlap shear strength at -423°F / -253°C. Additionally, EC-2216 B/A also offers excellent capability for bonding dissimilar substrates, including aluminum, titanium, composites, thermoplastics, elastomers and ceramics.

Available in grey and translucent versions, EC-2216 B/A is offered in cartridge format for controlled dispensing and application. The grey version provides a work life of more than 90 minutes and reaches handling strength in 8 hours at room temperature. Common applications include structural bonding, bonding of dissimilar materials and composite edge sealing.
