It all started 90 years ago with the Army Air Corps (AAC) and the US Navy (USN) with the new requirements to build aluminum aircraft for World War II. The AN bolt standard was born in 1936 to produce fasteners building over 330,000 aircraft during the next 10 years. Lamson & Sessions was the top producer manufacturing over 300,000 AN bolts each day. Airfasco purchased the manufacturing assets in 1979 starting production the following month. Airfasco still produces over 300,000 AN bolts each day. Also, in 1936 Carl Cherry invented an aluminum blind rivet fastener solving a problem for the famous American icon Rosie the riveter. Last year at this time our OEM base requested that we start making blind fasteners. To fill this void, Airfasco is developing the next generation of the aerospace blind rivet fastener systems.
