Prior to joining Coffman Associates in 1979 as one of its four original employees, I was involved in airport planning for a large multi-disciplined engineering firm. I saw how airport projects were seldom considered a high priority, and how planning for airports was viewed simply as a means to an end to generate a list of engineering projects for the firm to perform.
