Ellwood Quality Steels (EQS), based in New Castle, PA, has begun construction for the new vacuum induction melting furnace (VIM) to produce premium alloys, with ingot sizes 16” to 42” in diameter, supporting our customers' applications, including aerospace, space, defense and energy. The installation will produce heat sizes from 6 Mton to 18 Mton. EQS will supply material to support customer needs using the new VIM coupled with our expanded vacuum arc re-melting (VAR) and electroslag re-melting (ESR) capabilities. The VIM is expected to be commissioned in late 2026.
