Ellwood Quality Steels (EQS) based in New Castle, PA, has placed a purchase order for a new vacuum induction melting furnace (VIM) to produce premium alloys, supporting applications including aerospace supply chains that have increasing demand signals. The installation will allow heat sizes from 4 Mton to 18 Mton. EQS will supply material to support customer needs using the new VIM coupled with vacuum arc re-melting (VAR) and electroslag re-melting (ESR) using our re-melting facility installed in 2019.

The VIM is expected to be commissioned in 2026.
