In the age of globalization, the concepts of security and conflict have evolved. This observation imposes strategic reorientations in the use of defense means inside and outside our country.

The defense and national security strategy is today defined through five major strategic functions : knowing and anticipating, preventing, dissuading, protecting, intervening.

In this context, the role of the Ministry of the Armed Forces is to ensure the protection of the territory, the population and French interests. It also responds to other missions within the framework of international (NATO) or regional (Defense Europe) agreements and treaties .

Beyond these missions, the Ministry of the Armed Forces is also involved in public service missions. Its human and material resources support or supplement the actions of other ministries, on a daily or emergency basis, on national territory and to the stranger.
