Nelson-Miller, Inc. started on its path to success with Miller Dial, which was founded by Dawson Miller in 1937 as a small metal shop located on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The small manufacturer provided metal luminescent dials for the aerospace industry. Over the years the company expanded its capabilities to graphic overlays and later to engineering and manufacturing membrane switches.

Fred Nelson worked for Dawson Miller and branched out in 1946 to form his own company - Nelson Nameplate. Nelson started his company with a dream and enough equipment to fill a modest 1,000 square foot warehouse in Los Angeles. In 2003 Nelson Nameplate became a proud recipient of the Environment Protection Agency’s Environment Award of Outstanding Achievement and had Governor Schwarzenegger sign a legislation at Nelson Nameplate implementing First-in-the-Nation Green Chemistry Program.

The two longtime local competitors, Miller Dial, Inc. and Nelson Nameplate, came back together in April of 2011 to form Nelson-Miller, Inc. Today, with approximately 270 domestic employees, a national sales team serving the entire United States, and off-shore capabilities, Nelson-Miller,...
