Universal Hydrogen is developing conversion kits to retrofit existing regional aircraft with a hydrogen-electric powertrain. The kits feature specialized hydrogen modules in the rear of the aircraft and replace kerosene-burning turboprop engines with a fuel cell and electric motor in the nacelle. Retrofitted regional turboprops will have a range of around 500 nm, which will satisfy about 90% of routes.
