The Ferrite Measuring Device is a convenient measuring instrument with color display and external probe for measuring the ferrite content in austenitic and duplex steels in accordance with the Basel standard DIN EN ISO 8249 using the magnetic induction method. A completely newly developed digital probe technology enables particularly stable measurement results thanks to the high sampling rate. For absolutely interference-free and precise measurement, the signals are already digitized in the probe, which leads to extremely accurate and reproducible results.
The probe cable, which can be plugged in at both ends, connects the display unit to the digital probe and can be easily replaced if the cable breaks. The ferrite content meter has a graphic LCD touch panel with innovative user guidance and a resolution of 320 × 480 pixels. A yellow-green silicone frame reliably protects the housing from damage. Measurements can be taken in either FN or Fe-%.
A ferrite content measurement is particularly important for welded duplex steels to ensure that the weld seam has sufficient ferrite content to guarantee the necessary strength. The ferrite content may be too low if insufficient heat is applied or if the weld cools down quickly.
The ferrite content can be determined quickly and precisely using the Ferrite Measuring Device. The scan function can be activated to clearly recognize the weld seam on smooth or polished surfaces. When the probe is positioned and moved along the surface, measured values are continuously recorded, from which the minimum, maximum and average values are automatically calculated.
The Ferrite Measuring Device is supplied with three calibration standards that are traceably calibrated to the NIST standard. The flexibly customizable measured value memory and the wireless interface to Windows, Android and iOS offer comprehensive options for data acquisition and processing.
An SCPI interface is also implemented, which can be used to remotely control the ferrite content analyzer in line operation. The connection is made via USB, which enables both power supply and continuous operation.
Power is supplied either via three AA batteries or an external power source via USB, e.g. power bank or power adapter.
